All Classes will be All Run fields in 2008
01/28/08 - Today we are happy to announce that all classes will be all run fields. All drivers who enter any of our heads-up classes will get into the race. Qualifying will only be used to place you on a ldder. We hope this alleviates any concerns that you may not make the field.
Outlaw Class To be Contested on the 1/8th Mile
01/28/08 - Due to growning concerns with the track obtaining insurance for cars running quicker than 9.00 in the 1/4 mile, we have decided to make the Outlaw Class an 1/8th mile race. Corvettes entering the Outlaw class can run as fast they can in the 1/8th mile running everything they bring and all out.
We are pleased to announce the official rules and classes for the 2008 National Corvette Challenge. You will find that we keep the rules to a minimum with the primary key being safety. Richmond Dragway is an International Hot Rod Association, IHRA, track and we must first and foremost meet the safety requirements for IHRA. In addition, we will require all drivers, regardless of how quick or slow, to wear a helmet while on the track. There may be some rental helmets available. If you can obtain a helmet before the event, make sure it is rated at a minimum of a Snell 95 (or newer).

After reviewing all of these rules if you have a question or suggestion you can send message to Steve Oyer on Corvette Forum or post the question in the Corvette Forum Drag Racing section

Some basic information and racing rules;

These apply to all racers.
  1. Must be a Corvette
  2. Must be IHRA legal for your ET and MPH.
  3. ALL RACERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR HELMETS FOR THIS EVENT, no exceptions regardless of how slow your ET or MPH. The helmet must be a minimum Snell K98 rated.

  5. All aftermarket/OEM parts currently available will be allowed as long as they are for sale to the "general public" by January 15, 2008(This includes all pulley's, water pumps, mass-airs, headers, air intakes, throttle bodies etc.) except were class rules prohibit them. 14. Burnouts: All cars are permitted to perform burnouts in the designated areas only and only using water. Outlaw/10.0 cars are allowed one backup, 11.50/Bracket are allowed no backups.
  15. Bye Runs: For second round until the conclusion of the event, bye runs are determined by the best reaction time from the previous round of competition and the holder carries the bye until used or he/she is eliminated. You can only receive one bye run per class and bye runs can be turned down.
  16. Parking Procedures: Each parking space is at least 12 feet by 70 feet. If you can fit your truck and trailer and race vehicle pitted behind the trailer in the designated space, please do so.
