WINGATE INN NAME CHANGE COMING IN MAY

The owners of the Wingate Inn are changing their hotel's operating name sometime in May of 2008. With this name change, the Wingate Inn will become a Holiday Inn Express. There will NOT be any other changes by the hotel's owners, other than this name change, that will affect the 2008 Corvette Challenge Nationals or any of the event's guests that are staying at the hotel for the event. Hot, continental breakfast will still be included in your room rental as well as the exercise room and indoor pool. One benefit to us from this change will be the hotel is spending of nearly $750,000 to complete some updating to lobby and room furnishings, bedding and room linen packages and the addition of a small gift shop just prior to our May arrival date.

Reservations

Individuals may make reservations by calling 804-222-1499 and requesting a room in the "National Corvette Challenge" block. All reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card.

Payment/Billing

Guests are responsible for all charges.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received by 6 p.m. on the day of arrival to avoid cancellation/no show charges.

Parking

Parking will not be issue in 2008 as there will be a large lot adjoining the Wingate Inn site made available to us for additional parking space - the street will also be available.

ADDITIONAL HOTEL PARKING FOR 2008

Those of you who attended the 2007 Corvette Challenge and stayed at the Wingate Inn recall the parking was tight, especially for those who had trailers and car haulers. Luckily the street parking outside the Wingate Inn was available and not to difficult to use. The owners of the Wingate Inn have recognized this issue and are trying to help relieve the problem by making an adjoining parking lot available to us during the 2008 Corvette Challenge Nationals. The Wingate Inn owners are building a new "full-service" Holiday Inn just to the north of the present Wingate Inn. While this new hotel will not be finished in time for our use in early May 2008 it parking lot will be finished and paved allowing those attendees with trailers, haulers and motor homes to park on this lot instead of the street. We ask that those attendees who have driven their Corvette to the event still park in the Wingate Inn lot thus giving us the maximum amount of space in the adjoining lot for the larger rigs. If desired, you may also again park in the street in front of the Wingate Inn.

RVs

The fee for parking an RV in the parking lot will be $25 per night per RV. If a generator will be used, the RV must be parked farther away from the hotel for avoid disturbing guests in the hotel.

Directions to Wingate Inn

Follow I-295 either south or north bound to Exit # 28/28A I-64 and take I-64 West towards Downtown Richmond, exit off I-64 West at Exit #197A/Airport Drive/Richmond Airport, follow Airport Drive south to Audubon Drive and turn right, follow Audubon Drive to International Center Dr. turn right, follow International Center Drive to hotel.

Directions to Richmond Dragway from Wingate

Take International Center Drive to Audubon Drive and turn left, follow Audubon Drive to Airport Drive and turn right to Williamsburg Road/Route#60, turn left onto Williamsburg Road and take it Beulah road, turn Right onto Beulah Road proceeding to Portugee Road and taking a left onto Portugee Road and to Richmond Dragway - trip is 5 miles
